I thought I would take a tour of the Radio programmes on the Light
Programme on Saturday 6th May 1960, 57 years ago!
What do you remember? And which names do you recognise or have
forgotten? Remember this was before the days of 24 hour radio! I picked a
Saturday because that was the day most of us listened.
The day started at 06.30 with the weather and news summary and this was
quickly followed at 06.34 with Morning Music
with the BBC West of
England Light Orchestra.
At 06.45 on 1,500 m. it was the Shipping Forecast followed by the
Weather and News Summary at 07.30

At 10.00: came SATURDAY CLUB this week featuring:- The Lana
Sisters, Rosemary Squires, Dickie Pride, Dick Jordon. Gary Marshal,
